Take a trip to one of the largest art museums in Wallonia and experience culture from all angles. With over 700 pieces of art on show, this museum is bound to bring out the avant-garde in you

This museum is at the centre of Hainaut’s art scene, housing work accredited mainly to artists with a connection to the Province. The exhibitions revolve around three key areas: art in Hainaut, Surrealism and relationships between art and different forms of power. What makes this museum unique I hear you ask? Well, BPS22 focuses on art inspired by current cultural phenomena with the aim of encouraging social advancement. The curators advocate for the cohabitation of various works, regardless of their historical classification.

  • If you’re the self-reflective type when it comes to art then explore at your own liberty via a free tour. You can experience each exhibit using either a paper or electronic visitor guide, each offering clear descriptions of the works.
  • Visiting with kids? No problem, kids can get absorbed in the young visitor guides, allowing you to enjoy a playful browse with family members regardless of age.
  • What’s more, BPS22 has developed an area aimed at families in which multiple words are displayed at kid’s eye level. This is the perfect way for kids to get involved with the discussion and feel included on your journey around the exhibit.
  • If you’re feeling like a group run discussion then book yourself in for a guided tour. Revel in the expertise of your animated guide who will talk you through each encounter with different art works; learn something new and discover art from a different angle.
  • When you need a break from artistic discovery, make your way to one of BPS22’s workshops: from art classes for kids to educational lectures on the origins of street art, there’s bound to be something to quench your creative thirst. Gen Z or Boomer, everyone can get creative here.
  • Feel surprised by the appearance of new exhibitions each reflecting the world at the given time. A recent “Indoors and Outdoors” display has been inspired by the global pandemic; it questions the relationship between in and out and asks how we view the outdoors from the parameters of our own homes. Whatever the current exhibitions, it is bound to relate to the world as you know it.
