Set off on a journey of Bruges’ medieval history at this interactive museum. Go on a journey to the past with Virtual Reality and get to the top of The Historium Tower for an awesome view of Bruges

You’ve seen the medieval gates of Bruges. You’ve seen the pretty buildings in the market square. But seeing isn’t the same as understanding. Bruges Historium will take you through the medieval times of the city. They’ve recreated bits and pieces of the medieval city to show you what it used to be like. Take a step back in time and you’ll learn so much.

Can you really step back in time, though? Bruges Historium has made that possible with Virtual Reality. Put on a VR headset and you get to interact and explore medieval Bruges. You’ll step onto a boat in the virtual quay and see what Bruges used to look like.

A must visit for history buffs! From the back streets to the bath houses, you’ll get plenty of detail on how the city worked.

  • The Golden Age: explore the seven rooms of the Historium Story to see and hear all about the history of the city. Put your earbuds in for the audio tour for a story connecting it all inspired by the famous painting ‘Virgin and Child with Canon van der Paele' by Jan Van Eyck’s painting
  • New Heights: how do you feel about heights? Fearless photographers and daring historians should climb to the very top of the Corner Tower. Here you’ll get a great view of Bruges--the Belfry, Saint James’s Church, and much more.
  • What next? After exploring the museum relax and have a beer at their Duvelorium or keep the history train going by going to the Groeninge Museum
