Plus, martial arts school and traditional Chinese medicine shops. Sure, Antwerp’s Chinatown might not be the biggest but it’s got a lot of heart! Everything you need in a Chinatown is right here.

Yes, we know, Brussels has a Chinatown too but it hasn’t yet got the official seal of approval. Foodies searching for a taste of Chinese food and hidden gems need to drop by Antwerp’s Chinatown.

After WWII, Chinese migrants found their way to Belgium. And, with them, they brought an amazing culture that enriches and spices up Antwerp to this day. You can find this one and only official Chinatown of Belgium on Van Wesenbekestraat.

Tips and Tricks

  • To see the gate go on the entrance by Chocolate Nation. If you’re using public transport, you’ll see it right as you get off the platform.
  • Check out the largest supermarket on the street, Sun Wan, for all kinds of Chinese and Asian goodies.
  • Several noodle spots can be found for great lunch options.
  • For a Dim Sum treat, go to the neighbouring street and check out Fong Mei.
  • The weekend of Chinese New Year, you can line up and see the dragon dance being held here.

Getting There

Chinatown is easily reached via public transport. To avoid traffic and parking hassle, we recommend park and ride. But there are car parks nearby as well.

  • By Tram: close to tram stop Antwerpen Centraal Station perron 3. Trams 11 and 24 stop here
