Your weekend park escape in the city with plenty of activities for everyone. There’s a summer bar, restaurant, skate park, BBQ areas, playgrounds and more.

If you enjoy jogging, walking, cycling or drinking a cocktail in the sunshine and having other people do those things around you to create a nice breeze, you need to visit this park. In summer this is a hot spot to enjoy the sun, but really all year round there’s lots to do. It used to be an abandoned railway yard. These days Park Spoor Noord is a green park and sports centre and make sure you check out the bridge connecting the park to the northern part of the city “Het Eilandje”.

  • Visit the skate park (SPRK) for skateboarding. You can skate on your own or pay for a lesson (6 years+)
  • There’s multiple BBQ areas for anyone to use so keep in mind they get busy in the summer. You can also get freshly made pizza at Bar Nord.
  • Taking the kids to the park? There’s plenty of playgrounds for them and fountains to play in too so they won’t be bored.
  • In the summer getting a cocktail from Bar Nord and enjoying the sunshine is a given if you’re looking for a relaxing time
  • You’ll also find some street art near the skate park as well as under the motorway. The street art under the motorway was done in 2009 by the Aerosol Kings collective (a collective of four Belgian graffiti artists)
  • The bridge is a must see if you’re at the park. It’s 67m and 170 tonnes of fine architecture. You can cycle or walk through it. The patterns in the bridge makes the light pass through. Basically, it’s super pretty.
  • Still got energy to burn? Burn some brain calories at the Museum by the River (MAS)
  • Ever wanted to join the circus? Ell Circo D'ell Fuego organise flying trapeze lessons for the over 10s in SPRK (Mondays only 16:30 to 18:30) no registration required.
