Roadtrip! You, your family or friends, a classic Citroën 2CV and some beautiful Limburgian landscape. Need we say more?

Did someone say road trip!? Hop in your own Citroën 2CV and drive through the beautiful, rolling landscape of Haspengouw. Vintage car and nostalgia lovers, this is a perfect activity for you. It’s also great for a day, a weekend or a week-long trip - you can hire these little cars for whatever you need. Family holiday, road trip with your buddies or a romantic adventure, these are ideal for a special occasion as it’s a bit pricey.

The star of the show is the car that you’ll be driving. Known as the ‘ugly duckling’, ‘goat’, ‘tin-snail’ the Citroën 2CV has got as many nicknames as it has cult followers. But, you don’t need to be a lover of classic cars to recognise this iconic little Citroën, known for its practicality and durability. First manufactured in the 1930s, it was actually designed to be able to carry 4 adults in their Sunday-best hats and 50 kg of potatoes, but now it can carry you around Limburg’s green countryside!

Route38’s fleet of colourful 2CV’s are all their own little characters with their own history. Known as the “kids”, they each have their own names. Would you like to drive Clémentine or Basil? Mirabelle or Félix? Or maybe even Scrooge...? Whatever you decide, part of the fun is choosing your own little car. Despite all of the fleet being over 30 years old, Route38 keeps them well maintained and in excellent condition.

The beautiful Haspengouw region is famous for its blossoms during the month of April. Even though we know all of the hotspots, we loved the roadtrip through our own backyard with a “geitje” like we call it in Flemish. We even discovered some new places!
