Let out your inner child in this toy museum. Kids will love using the toys in the play area, but adults will take a deep dive into nostalgia with each childhood memory you stumble across

Get lost in nostalgia about that time you built a lego castle with your friends at this toy museum. Lego, dolls, trains, and much more are all in the three floors of this toy museum.

Kids will have a great time in the play area where there’s kitchen sets, drawing pens, and more. Adults can also grab their favorite throwback games, snatch up if you feel like ruining your relationships. The main draw here for adults is the nostalgia factor, but there’s also toy history too. There’s displays about toys from centuries ago like ancient Egypt up to right now

  • You do more than just look at toys behind glass at this museum. There’s plenty to interactive with and toys to play with. Plus the displays are interesting! You can find a recreated infamous painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder made with children’s toys.
  • Some parts are interactive. You can play with some of the toys throughout the three floors, but if you’re here to play then the cafeteria is the place for you. That’s where the kids play area is and where you can borrow board games
  • Most labels explaining the toys are in Dutch but generally it's obvious what's on display here. If you’re looking for further history and don’t speak Dutch you’re gonna have to use a translation app or drag a Dutch-speaking friend with you
  • Speelgoedmuseum occasionally host temporary exhibits so check their website to see what they have on at the moment
  • If you want to spend the whole day playing, then visit the science & tech museum Technopolis next. It’s a short drive away in the south of Mechelen.
