Ever wanted to see dinosaur fossils? Take the family out for a natural science discovery full of hidden treasures! Glow in the dark rocks and a mesosaurus fossil are just a few of these gems. Best for ages 3 to 7

The World of Kina: House is a science museum best for families to discover the hidden gems of nature. Kina House is probably one museum you won’t see recommended all the time - it’s actually a hidden gem itself, hidden away in Ghent. Go along for an interactive, natural science focused discovery.

Best for families with young kids looking for a few hours of fun in the city centre. All the info panels are in Dutch, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit. There’s a range of permanent exhibits in Kina House. Here you’ll find everything from fossils millions of years old, insects and glow in the dark rocks.

  • Glow in the dark: we’ve all seen rocks and crystals in the museum before, but have you ever seen them glow in the dark? The Kei-Cool exhibit shows off glow in the dark crystals and minerals. Yup, Mother Nature popped off when she made fluorescent rocks.
  • Fossil me out: uncover almost 600 fossils at the World of Kina House. One big star of the show is a 50 million years old crocodile fossil, which was found not too far away in Maransart. Plus a mosasaurus. What the heck is a mosasaurus? It’s a massive fish with super sharp teeth. This 5.7m (18.7ft!) long creature hunted the oceans over 65 million years ago.
  • Temporary Exhibits: the World of Kina House often features temporary exhibits. Check their website to see what’s on right now. They’ve done exhibits on science and art too.
