One of the best preserved remains of the German defensive line from WWI and WWII. Crawl through history!

Come to the Atlantikwall to see 60 bunkers, an open air museum with underground passages, observation posts and more. It’s a massive piece of Belgium’s war history. It was used in WWI and WWII by the German forces. Stroll along the coast of Raversyde to learn all about these pieces of history.

What you see in Raversyde is just a fraction of The Atlantic Wall, which was the line of German defense. The whole wall includes multiple fortresses, including major historical sights like Dunkirk. The wall was never fully finished, but pieces of it remain for us to explore and learn from at the museum of Atlantikwall.

  • The bunkers: Atlantikwall is a maze of bunkers. Wander the corridors to discover the living quarters of the soldiers plus weapon rooms, game tables, and more.
  • Weapons of the coast: walk the open air museum of Atlantikwall to discover dozens of weapons from the world wars. These guns still point out to the sea, left in their original places.
  • Saltzwedel-neu Battery: get inside the WWII battery unit to see the artillery, bunkers and more all connected with passages. As it’s so well preserved, it’s known as one of the best examples along the The Atlantic Wall of the WWII defensive structures. A big one to visit if you’re into history. Even if you’re not, there’s some cool walkways around the bunkers with views of the coast.
  • Aachen Battery: the only WWI German battery on the coast to have survived ‘til now. Another history highlight to see.
