What’s a dolmen? A tomb from centuries ago. Dolmen Van Weris is a historic landmark and hidden gem close to the village of Weris.
Get away from the touristy centre of the smallest city in the world at Durbuy. Just a short drive away from Durbuy is the unique sight of Dolmen of Wéris.
Centuries ago, locals made a tomb by stacking giant rocks on top of each other. Some say that once upon a time it was even covered by an earthen mound. These days, Dolmen of Wéris is out in the open for all to see. A photo spot and archeological site, Dolmen of Wéris is a hidden gem worth visiting.
Buried history: Dolmen of Wéris and everything around it has tons of history. Archeologists have even found human bones, teeth and more at the tomb of Dolmen.
You might not notice it at first sight, but the field road to the east of the Dolmen is along the same lines as the ancient Gallo-Roman road ran through the fields. That’s why it is still called “Chemin des Romains.” Archaeological digs around Dolmen have found artifacts like axes and coins from the Neolithic era, from between the Stone and Bronze Ages, and more from as far back as 2000 BCE.
