Take a stroll along the beach to the iconic lighthouse of Nieuwpoort.

Ready for a postcard worthy shot of Nieuwpoort? This coastal town has a cute lighthouse right on the beach. A short walk from the main beach where the crowds hang out, the lighthouse is a nice stop when you’re strolling along the beach and dunes. The lighthouse is an iconic sight of Nieuwpoort and has been around since 1949.

Nieuwpoort’s lighthouse is closed to the public, so you’re just here to enjoy the sight from a distance.

  • Dune and beach walk: you can easily get to the lighthouse by walking along the Westende-Bad. It’s a scenic stroll over to the lighthouse - you’re surrounded by the dunes if you’re coming down from the city. Nieuwpoort beach is split into two. You can take the bridge across Nieuwpoort-Bad to reach the lighthouse from the busy side of the beach.
  • Sunset views: strolling along the beach at sundown? The Lighthouse is one landmark you can’t miss!

Tips and Tricks

  • Niewpoort’s lighthouse happens to be on the less busy side of the beach, making it a nice landmark for a quiet stroll. It’s a 30 minute walk from Groenendijk Strand.

  • By Car: short walk from car parking at Parking Hendrikaplein
  • By Tram: 20 min walk from tram stop Lombardsijde Zeelaan. Tram 0 stops here
