Go for a walk or a yoga retreat in an 11th century castle, now a spiritual retreat centre close to Durbuy.

Right in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, super close to Durbuy, Radhadesh is a retreat to put on your list if you need to chill. Owned by the movement of Hare Krishna (aka ISKCON), a branch of hinduism, the 11th century castle is an oasis of spirituality. Formerly La Petite-Somme, the castle was rebranded Radhadesh when Hare Krishna took over. It offers all-vegetarian meals, yoga retreats, and great views of the Ardennes. Plus it’s worth it to see just for the quaint look & feel of the place.

So many things to do

  • Moo!: set for its grand opening in August 2021, the Radhadesh cow sanctuary is home to 15 cows. Guests get to meet the cows, brush ‘em and can help with milking.
  • Eco-friendly: would it surprise you if we said they also grow their own veggies? Radhadesh has a team of permaculture farmers that lets their plants grow naturally. And you get to eat those fresh veggies at their restaurant. 2.8km hike: retreat into nature. Go into the castle’s forest for a steady 1 ½ walk. There’s 30 info panels on the Bhagavad Gita, a holy scripture of Hinduism.
  • Make sure you check out the bakery on site for a divine chocolate chip cookie!

Yoga retreat

  • Retreats: most yoga retreats last for 2 days. Have yoga sessions right outside the 11th century castle. Try out gardening, mantras, and meditation. For an extra fee, you can also get a deep tissue massage.

  • Weekly yoga classes: every Monday and Thursday. At the Radhadesh yoga room, try out a 75 min yoga session in English or French. 5€ per session.

Stay the night at the guesthouse in Radhadesh. Retreating on a budget? Pick the dormitory option (seperate for men/women) for 15€ a night. Prices for private rooms start at 42€.
