A 40m tall rock spire. Get up super close by driving through the small passage of Rue Defoin

One of the first things you’ll see when you get close to Dinant! Will make you feel like you’ve accidentally driven into a fantasy movie shot at the Rocher Bayard. This rocky spire is a popular sight to see super close to the centre of Dinant. Perfect as your drive into the city or last stop as you leave. The rock is split into two, so it’s easy enough to drive right through the small road.

Buses, cars, trucks and cyclists all pass through Rocker Bayard everyday. Why not join them at one of the symbols of Dinant?

Rock of legend

So, there’s a 15th century French tale called the “Song of the Four Sons Aymon” about four brothers. In the story, there's a fairy horse called Bayard. It’s said that the four brothers were surrounded and so the horse kicked off, leaving behind a footprint on the rock. The legend says that the fairy horse footprint can still be seen on Rocher Bayard. Hey, if you happen to find it let us know!

River views

Driving through Rocher Bayard is a nice experience, but you get the best look at the impressive sight from further away. Get the best views of Rocher Bayard by going on a boat on the river Meuse. The easiest way to see Rocher at its best is to get the tourist boat. The 45 min trip starts in Dinant and shows you the major sights. You can also combine with a visit to the Citadel of Dinant.
