Ever wanted to see Sleeping Beauty’s castle in person? Vêves Castle looks about as close as you can get IRL. Drop by the 15th century castle fortress to see one of the unique castles of Wallonia. Unlike many castles in Belgium, you’re able to go in and see the castle in its authentic style, fully furnished.

A bit of history: the castle has been around since the 15th century as a military fortress. Under King Louis XV, the iconic castle towers were added. It wasn’t until the 1960s that the castle was fully restored and opened to the public.

• Inside the castle: the castle shows off its history. Some rooms show connections with other noble Belgian houses and the royal family of Japan by displaying furniture, photos, and some info panels. Check out the inner courtyard garden too. All the furniture and art is quite pretty.
• Treasure hunt: for the kids! Bring the children on a medieval adventure. Kids get to dress up as knights and nobles as they search for a hidden treasure chest in the castle. Costume rental is included in the entry price. Sometimes you can get a treasure hunt at night too.
• Guided tour: take a full guided tour of the castle (available in French, Dutch, English and Spanish). Get all the history deets on the castle you won’t get alone. You’ll have to reserve a guide, though, so plan ahead.
